BAFA offers three grant schemes that are open to members: the small grants scheme, career development support scheme and the student essay prize.

Small Grants Scheme

The BAFA small grant scheme is designed to provide financial support of up to £250 to fund or contribute towards the costs associated with a specific research project or related research activity. Please read the application information within the application form carefully before applying.

Career Development Support Scheme

The BAFA career development support scheme is designed to provide financial support of up to £250 to fund or contribute towards the costs associated with a specific Continuing Professional Development (CPD) event, activity, or learning material that will help with career development. Please read the application information within the application form carefully before applying.

Student Essay Prize

The BAFA student essay competition is an annual event awarding a £250 prize to the essay voted most favourable by the BAFA committee review panel. Please read the application information within the application form carefully before applying.

Key Dates

For the small grants and career development support schemes there will be two application rounds per year, funds permitting. Applications will only be accepted within the two application periods detailed below. Any applications submitted outside of these windows will not be considered.

The competition for the student essay prize will run annually with one winner selected per year. Essay submissions will open in June. You can write your essay at any time, but it must be submitted between 1st-30th June. Any entries received after June 30th will not be counted.
